Infrastructure, Roads and Protecting our County
Improving infrastructure attracts better job opportunities and increases quality of life for all Luzerne County residents.
Jimmy has a plan to repair our roads and, where possible, turn ownership of county roads over to municipalities, who would then receive gas tax funds to maintain them, reducing the county’s long-term financial infrastructure burden.
Luzerne County needs to protect and preserve our land. We need to have strong policy and programs to ensure we maintain and protect our natural resources.
He also believes in reevaluating the County Correctional Facility to be more cost effective.
Tax Reform
Jimmy has a plan to increase revenue for the county, including creation of new non-tax revenue streams and create a more balanced budget that works for everyday people.
For example, Luzerne County has an excessive amount of unused county-owned properties that can be sold, creating immediate revenue, and also long-term revenue by returning these properties to private ownership.
Economic Development
Jimmy’s plan to attract high paying jobs through smart investments and revitalization efforts will create stable community economies.
This included investing in new technology infrastructure and working with nonprofits and local universities to provide workforce development and programs to create a “start-up” friendly business environment that will create 21st century jobs.
Community Spaces
Another aspect of Jimmy’s plan is to protect our Luzerne County assets by rebuilding County infrastructure is improving our outdoor spaces.
As recent years made clear, these spaces highlight the natural beauty of the county while providing places for the community to enjoy the outdoors.
Jimmy is dedicated to continuing to grow our outdoor spaces, parks, and even building community gardens.
County Prison and Criminal Justice
Strong communities are safe communities. Jimmy’s plan is to provide adequate funding to ensure we have safe spaces for all.
Jimmy understands that a new correctional facility is needed as our current facility doesn’t have the resources it needs and costs the county more to maintain than it should. However, he believes that if we can decriminalize some minor offences and promote diversion programs, we can build a smaller facility that will be more cost effective, saving the taxpayers money over time.
By retrofitting the county jail and other buildings we can save taxpayers money, create jobs, reduce energy costs, as well as create a non-tax revenue stream.
I’m running for Luzerne County Council so we can create safe & stable communities, provide cost-effective and trusted county services, and find solutions that work for the people of Luzerne County.
